I'm not saying these people are wrong because it does turn into a typical sports film for almost all of the last half an hour of the movie (last five minutes are all Mandela) but its a 136 minute long movie and the whole Rugby sport isnt even introduced until at least 20-25 minutes in when its only briefly mentioned.

For the most part though you only see a total of two full matches of Rugby. The rest of them are montages and they practically skip over HOW they went from Worst to Best (world cup).

The film is actually extremly focused on Mandela but not in a traditional biopic way. It doesn't have to directly show you every minute of every day of Mandela to get the message of who he was out to everyone. And the way he USED the sports team to utilize a togetherness was one of Mandela's many ways of bringing together South Africa.

And its Clint Eastwood. Do you really think he'd want a movie just showing Mandela talk and do stuff for two hours? You also have to realize is that its based on a book about this entire story so it wasn't exactly an original story but it BECAME original by having Clint/Damon/Freeman attached.xTJMac510xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06642768999357179016noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4116602259574025839.post-32947648572041722622009-12-14T12:45:35.361-08:002009-12-14T12:45:35.361-08:00A lot of people are panning this for playing too m...A lot of people are panning this for playing too much into underdog sports genre instead of paying attention to Mandela.Colin Biggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09262867105152233537noreply@blogger.com
