Jason Segel and Paul Rudd are hillarious. Segel is well known for the hit comedy How I Met Your Mother and Forgetting Sarah Marshall (where he showed everything) and Rudd is well known for his extensive portfolio of great comedies like Anchorman, Role Models, and the 40 Year Old Virgin. Put these two together as the leads and you get a great and unforgettable comedy that also features a live performance (and jam session) featuring the greatest band in the world: Rush.
I Love You Man is about real estate agent Peter Klaven(Rudd) who has just proposed to his long time girlfriend Zooey (Rashida Jones) . It has the potential to be a great wedding except there is one missing element: a best man. All his life Peter has gotten along with mostly women. The only guys he is friends with are his dad (JK Simmons), his gay brother (Andy Samberg) and on occasion Zooey's husband Barry. But none of these guys are suitable best men so Peter goes on a hunt for a best man. What he finds is Sydney Fife, a slacker investor with a big heart and a completly different state of mind then Peter. But they hit it off and what ensues is comedy gold.
The film is riddled with great sight gags, lots of laugh out loud lines and a great heart. Like Role Models, underneath all the raunch is a big heart. But what I love the most is the chemistry between Rudd and Segel. They seem like genuine buddies throughout the film and its a great film for guys because all the stuff they do, we have done or wanted to do before. Its a true testament to what guys are like and the kind of stuff we talk about. And there's Rush.
All the acting is great, all the jokes are great, everything about this movie is great. This is definetly worth picking up.
