Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.
This week's new episode was actually a pretty good one. One of the genre's I have been paying more and more attention to in the past year has been that of the "found footage genre." These are films like the Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity/Entity and Cloverfield. We discussed its origins with the banned cult classic Cannibal Holocaust and the uproar it caused after being dubbed a snuff film due to realistic violence and even a very graphic impalement scene.
We then talked at length about Cloverfield and Blair Witch calling them the standard for found footage films although be both kind of agreed that Blair has lost its initial luster. Eventually though, after a quick mentioning of Diary of the Dead we spent the rest of the main topic discussing R.E.C 1 and 2 and Quarantine. After that we talked about Survivor and Idol mentioning "comeback kid" a few times. Speaking of, the Boston Rob interview will go up as soon as I have more time.
In our recommend a's this week I focused on one of my new favorite nerdtronic (nerdy-electronic) bands ALL CAPS which just released their new album. Here is there hit song "World of Warcraft Ruined My Life."
Nick on the other hand plugged ImprovEverywhere
After that we did our monologue/dialogue of the week in which I did the infamous watch scene from Pulp Fiction doing my best (and by that I mean crappy) Walken impression. After a couple minutes of gathering our composure Nick then took on Blair Witch's "Up the Nose" scene where the chick is apologizing.
This Saturday will be our fifth episode and will go over our top 5 actors (male and female) and our top 5 films. You'll be surprised.
Love the Walken month idea. Only concern: It KIND of looks like the banner says "April 15 ... Christopher Walken month!" And I was thinking "I thought April 15 was tax day."
