Once again the happiness of all the children of the world depends on you. You must find the baby New Year, and you have less than a week to do it
Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.
Well since its Christmas time then that means its time for BASS/RENKER FILMS!! Well today is what I consider the first real sequel to any of the movies and wouldnt you guess its a sequel to their biggest money maker Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer!
Rudolphs shiny new year is the new film and sequel to the original and follows the story once again of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. This time however Rudolph is here to save not only Christmas but the New Year as well. You see every year there is a baby new year to ring in the year. This year however Baby New Year has big floppy ears which make him really self concious. Because of this Happy (his name) doesn't want the attention, responsibility and he's a bit of a loner. Taking advantage of that an evil vulture like creature wants to take Happy away and make sure there is NEVER A NEW YEAR. With the help of Baby Bear, Ben Franklin and others Rudolph saves the day.
Its definetly an interesting premise if I have ever seen one. Then again it IS hard to make a sequel to a poem/song. Besides those few verses there really wasnt a whole lot to go on. But Bass/Renker really pulled one out that is not only interesting, well acted and has a good moral, but one that definetly stands out as being a great edition to the Christmas/New Year cannon. Especially as of late on ABC family, Rudolphs shiny new year has become a signature staple in the Christmas movie cannon and its for good reason. Still not as classic as the original, Rudolphs Shiny New Year is a joy for everyone, no matter what age.
MY VERDICT: SEE IT
