I ate fiberglass insulation. It wasn't cotton candy like the guy said... my tummy itches.

Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.

There comes a time when a movie is released that is so funny and so raunchy and over the top that it must be seen at least once a week. This film is Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Essentially the prequel to Talladega Nights, this film follows the exploits of the Channel 4 news team made up of ANCHORMAN and beloved citizen of San Fransisco Ron Burgundy. He is played by Will Ferrell and let me tell you from the first time he opens his mouth...he is hillarious. Maybe its because of producer Judd Apatow and (at the time) first time director Adam McKay, who would go on to make Talladega Nights and Step Brothers. Either way Ferrell is hillarious. With him are a group of comedy heavyweights known as his action team. They are made up of Paul Rudd playing Brian Fantana, the player of the group and sporting a wild moustache. He is the field reporter of the group. Next is David Koechner who plays Champ, the local sports reporter who is a bit of a Texas windbag and has an odd enamoration with Ron. Finally is Brick the loud and mentally challenged weather man. This was Steve Carrell's first big role in a film. The only other movies he had done were Bruce Almighty (in a bit part) and Curley Sue (in a bit part). Steve steals the show with all his antics and lines.

Thats the main group but people like Fred Willard, Christina Applegate, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Seth Rogen, Tim Robbins, Jack Black, Neil Flynn and Danny Trejo. If none of those names strike you as being awesome then there is something wrong with you.

The jokes are constant, the plot is comically all over the place and it has the best fight scene in any movie period

My only complaint really is it could have been a little shorter maybe. But otherwise its one of the best comedies I have ever seen.

MY VERDICT:TOP 20
