Its time to nut up or shut up!

Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.

Zombies are hillarious. They just are. Whether you like zombie movies or not, everyone agrees that zombies are more funny than scary. Night of the Living Dead and the remake of Dawn of the Dead were amazing classic movies. They were bone chilling and atmospheric but honestly if you watch these movies enough times you start to realize just how funny these "horror" movies are. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, two British television stars turned feature film actors, realized this and created the funniest and my favorite movie of all time Shaun of the dead. Well it took until 2009 but America has fired back with their own Shaun of the Dead and its called Zombieland.

Jessie Eisenburg plays Columbus, a phobic, shut in gamer who is one of the few living survivors in a country run by zombies. The only reason he isnt chewing flesh like everyone else is because he follows a set of "rules." These rules pop up on the screen at random points and serve as a consistant running gag. Columbus describes these rules in hillarious detail and his ultimate goal is to go to Columbus to find his family. Along the way he meets up with Woody Harrelson whose nickname is Tallahassee. Tallahassee is pretty much one of the coolest and most demented characters in film history. He is an expert marksmen, killing people with guns, bats, chainsaws, poles and pretty much anything that is not nailed down. In fact he even kills someone with a banjo after playing Dueling Banjoes from Deliverance. He treats killing as an art. And what is his main goal in life? Finding twinkies. Yes those calorie filled cream tubes that everybody hates to love but does. And he is relentless. He will go to any store, find any truck and will do anything to get a twinkie. He would probably shoot his mom for a twinkie. But there is some kind of sweetness to him that you realize as the movie progresses that makes him pretty lovable.

The odd couple of Columbus and Tallahassee is comic gold enough but they decided to add two fodder characters. Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. Stone plays Wichita, a punky chick who looks like Zooey Deshanel's twin. She doesnt really do much acting wise for the film (which is sad considering she is a future comic genius) and really is just there as a love interest. But she doesnt ruin the movie and doesnt talk a WHOLE lot. Breslin is Little Rock. Little Rock is a 20 year old in a 12 year olds body. She is mature beyond her years, good with a gun and really smart. She actually does pretty well in this film. Altogether the whole lot brings a good acting mix by being a strange eclectic family.

The action is over the top and awesome. The laughs are quite consistant, the acting is pretty well rounded, the soundtrack is awesome (Metallica plays over the opening credits...amazing) and it doesnt try to hard to be like any other film. It contains originality that is hard to find nowadays. If you can handle gore than you will love this movie.

Oh and there is a celeb cameo that is the greatest cameo in film history providing the greatest three minutes of film Ive seen in a long time. If anything see this movie for his cameo.
MY VERDICT: OWN IT
