If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it.But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you

Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.
Acadamy Award Winner Liam Neeson is a great actor. His voice is powerful and charasmatic (probably why he played Jesus i mean Azlan in Narnia) and he is one of those actors that can make anything good. So it was a bit of a shock when I heard the writer and director of the God AWFUL Transporter movies was coming out with a espionage thriller that details the underground prostitution rings in France. But if it were just another by the book thriller it wouldnt be good. So they made it personal.
Neeson plays Brian Mills, a decorated ex CIA officer who specialized in being a stopper, someone who prevented bad things from happening has a hard life. He voluntarily retires so he can spend more time with his estranged family only to find out that Lenny, his wife has moved on, divorced him and now Brian lives alone in a house all by himself. His 17 year old daughter Kim has dreams of being a singer but living a sheltered rich kid life she never is allowed to cash in on those dreams. But Brian wants the best for her so unbeknownst to Lenny he buys her a karaoke machine. Sounds sweet right? Well before her senior year of college Kim and a friend go to France to "look at museums" (really to follow U2...really U2??). Brian is an overly protective father and when he finds out he is less than pleased but by then she is already in France. He is less worried about her following a band more than something bad happening to her. And Brian has a bad feeling about everything.
Its not soon before long when Kim and her friend are TAKEN and Brian quickly uses his skills as a CIA spy as well as agility and strength to try and track down the people who did it. One paragraph though makes this movie.

Its with these words that the plot picks up and Ill let you experience the rest for yourself. The tension and thrills in this movie are nonstop. The action is gripping, the dialogue is smart and well thought out, and everything moves at a breakneck speed. You really feel like you are on a roller coaster ride. There is no stop. Everything is very linear too but in a good way. You never really have to process everything and the movie never drags or feels like it could have cut a scene out.
Overall its one of the best action movies of 2009 and definetly my vote for biggest (good) surprise of the year. It was in my top 10 until District 9 and Inglourious Basterds came along so despite it not being there anymore. Its getting that rating.
MY VERDICT: TOP 20
