Hell is a teenaged girl
Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.
Megan Fox is hot. Deny it all you want but she is drop dead gorgeous. She has the personality of a cardboard cutout, cant act worth a damn and is a really disgusting person, but she is hot. Needless to say there would eventually come a movie that exploits this aspect of her and wouldnt you guess it is a horror film.
Jennifer's Body was essentially made to make Fox look good. She was cast before they even made or wrote the movie. It was literally written around her. Then what I dont get, is why she sucks in this movie (figuratively although she does it literally). On the bright side however Amanda Seyfried, of Mamma Mia fame, pulls through and makes this a passable horror comedy written by Juno creator Diablo Cody.
Jennifer's Body is not about Megan Fox's body. Its about Anita "Needy" and how she ended up in the looney bin. According to the film Needy, Jennifer (her BFF since the sandbox) and Chip (Needy's boyfriend) are all great buddies and they have a normal high school life. One day however Jennifer gets taken by a band called Low Shoulder and she gets sacrificed and turned into a demon. Thats the jist of it.
The effects are pretty well done and the music mixes indie with mainstream pop. The acting is decent for a horror film with Seyfried really bringing her character to life and delivering a lot of really good lines. Fox...well shes hot. Most of her lines are Paris Hilton wannabe lines or thrown away ideas. She occasionally has some good acting moments and she doesnt ruin the movie, but shes the equivalent of Keaunu Reeves in Dracula....out of place.
Its very much written for the 13-21 year old demographic with plenty of youtube, facebook, myspace ect references and it does have that Juno charm but its still your run of the mill horror fodder. Although I will say its probably better than 3/4 of the horror crap that comes out.
MY VERDICT: RENT IT
