Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.
Well Im not sure if this post will be before or after its sequel War Zone. Either way Ill try to review this movie...try.
The original Punisher movie, starring Tom Jane and John Travolta is pretty bad. The writing is downright awful, the comic relief is lame to the point of face palming and WAH WAH music and the whole love story with Rebecca Romijin is completly asinine and really out of place considering who this movie is based on.
This film takes a page from the Max Payne/Uwe Boll book of how to make a movie based on a comic or game.
1st.Take anything that was awesome about the character away until maybe the last minute to set up for a sequel.
2nd.Make the villains the most idiotic asses or the most loveable goofballs that you cant decide whether to love or hate them
3rd.Destroy the orgin story. Its your movie you make whatever you want. As long as you have the name THE PUNISHER people will see this movie.
4th.Lame and laughable romance subplot
Well The Punisher did that. The acting sucks and the action sucks. But the soundtrack is good...thats something! Ya know its funny too since i used to like this movie but then i read the comics and watched Warzone and i realized that this first movie did no justice to the comic and all it really did was make it a watered down action comedy. That doesnt sound like a film worth the name the punisher does it?
MY VERDICT: ABOMINATION TO CINEMA
