TV SHOW MEME DAY 8

Hello I am the movie encyclopedia and if no one else will see it, I will.

Day 8 of this meme gives me a great opportunity to tell you "A Show you should be watching." Well as much as I'd love to say Human Target or Burn Notice or any of those other shows, well this past Monday knocked those two down a notch in favor of this new show on NBC called Persons Unknown.

Persons Unknown is a mini-series that revolves around a group of people who are all stuck in a small town and being monitored with their only outside interactions being the night manager at the hotel and their personal chefs who come in once a day to give them food. Oh and if they try to leave (I swear it's a fake wall), they get tranquilized.

These people aren't criminals though or lowlifes, just regular people with regular lives. You got the single mom Janet who wants to reunite with her daughter. You got Joe, the mysterious leader and Graham the marine. You also have counselor Moria, the party girl Tori, the bank investor Charlie, the car salesman Bill and the ex-con Erika. All of them are trapped and want a way out.

Imagine the plot to Saw 2 but without the confusion or the violence and gore instead being replaced by an almost Lost/Twin Peaks kookiness and tension. It's well written, albeit some small plot holes, but it's a brilliant show nevertheless.

NBC has a knack for knocking off shows quick and early. Paired with Last Comic Standing on Mondays at 10 PST it may do well but you never know. Hopefully the ratings are consistant enough that we at least get through the whole series.

It's intriguing, it's well acted, it was created and written by Christopher McQuarrie of The Usual Suspects, The Way of the Gun and Valkyrie. So give it a shot and keep NBC from getting rid of a halfway decent show. Have you seen their fall line up?

Persons Unknown is on NBC at 10/9 central
